GROUP FITNESS - HYBRID COURSE








Prerequisites:

CPTN Certified Group Fitness Leader Candidates Must:

Be an adult age 18 or older.

Hold current Adult 

CPR C/AED and minimum of Standard or Emergency First Aid certifications.


Description

The CPTN Group Fitness Leader workshop is designed for future group leaders. This course provides the skills required to teaching a variety of group fitness classes, whether it is in a large facility studio or in-house boutique small group training.

This 28-hour hybrid course blends the best of self study, online learning and in person learning with a combination format. 

Course includes: 

  • one self study lesson, 

  • two days of live online lessons and 

  • two days live in person lessons


Dates/Times

  • Saturday, Oct. 17 = 9am-5pm, live online via Zoom 

  • Sunday, Oct. 18, 1pm-5pm, live in person at The Lab Athletic Club, 1157 Rymal Rd E, Hamilton, ON L8W 3M6  

  •  Saturday, Oct. 24 = 9am-5pm, live online via Zoom 

  • Sunday, Oct. 25, 1pm-5pm, live in person at The Lab Athletic Club, 1157 Rymal Rd E, Hamilton, ON L8W 3M6 


You Will Learn:

  • How to teach in bootcamp, tabata/HIIT, circuit training, total muscle conditioning, Hi/Lo choreographed class,

  • How to improve verbal/non-verbal communication skills,

  • How to understand musicality (i.e. cueing to different types of music, tempo),

  • How to apply music that is appropriate for the different teaching modalities listed above),

  • How to practice cueing to phrases and appropriate directional changes,

  • How to design phrased combinations,

  • How to create, build and break down choreography,

  • How to motivate participants by adopting different methods of teaching.

Within 48 Hours of Registration

  • Access to Self-study lesson

  • Detailed course outline

Required Testing to Earn CPTN-CGFL Distinction

  • Grade: Theory Exam – 75% / Practical Exam – 75%

  • Tablet/Laptop or Desktop (with webcam)

  • Broadband Internet connection

  • Zoom Client app for the preferred device

  • Training gear for practical, in-person components
